Eli Waltz - "Old Money" (Truthful Sessions)

Here we have @eliwaltz performing his original song "Old Money." It was a good old time riding around with Eli looking for spots to film on Oahu. This was the first location we thought would work called on Pyramid Rock Beach. We shot a couple of sessions so this won’t be the last time Eli makes an appearance on Truthful Sessions. Keep your eye on Eli!

“Let It Be Sunday” Song Review (UpToHear)

“When we receive indie folk submissions, it is not uncommon for an artist to mention Gregory Alan Isakov in their list of influences, but it is very rare to find someone who can capture Isakov’s raw and heartfelt essence– until now. Eli Waltz is the real deal, people, and we are truly delighted to feature his brand new release, “Let It Be Sunday.”

Folk Music Collaborators Make Their West Coast Debut

Washington, D.C.’s Eli Waltz and Seattle’s Hannah Wyatt bring dynamic harmonica, guitar, violin and vocal stylings to West Coast Venues

SEATTLE – Long time, long distance collaborators Eli Waltz and Hannah Wyatt make their West Coast debut, for fans of Ray Lamontagne, Alt-J, Bob Dylan and folk and Americana icons throughout history.

Waltz and Wyatt combine improvisatory instrumental performance on the harmonica, guitar and violin with storytelling inspired by Delta blues, folk and country music, with contemporary themes that resonate today: loss, loneliness, love, family and curiosity about the future.

Waltz and Wyatt met online in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic. Their shared appreciation for complex, soulful songwriting and artists like Gregory Alan Isakov inspired a multi-year collaboration between the Washington, D.C.-based Waltz and Seattle-based Wyatt.

This tour begins with a date at the Hotel Albatross on August 10, bringing the duo to perform together in person for the very first time. Featuring locals Shaker Bloomheart, Fond Farewell and Frankie McCabe, the evening promises expert songwriting and enigmatic performance from a stacked bill of indie-folk ensembles and soloists.

The tour will end with a performance together in Los Angeles for SoFar Sounds. Waltz will stick around for an early spot the following day at Rebru Spirits’ Sunday Sip, hosted by the company’s master distiller Wili Fleming, who also happens to be an Americana-folk singer/songwriter.

This tour celebrates the release of Waltz & Wyatt’s self-titled first album. Waltz and Wyatt have also released singles from their respective solo projects, available to stream on Spotify, Soundcloud and Bandcamp.

Waltz and Wyatt have been endorsed by the likes of the Washington City Paper and Nasheville’s Music Mecca, respectively. Waltz’s Washington, D.C.-centered Americana Hour series celebrates up-and-coming artists in the tri-state area while promoting the District’s legacy as a powerhouse of Americana music. Wyatt’s latest album The Iron Line earned her praise as “an inspiring new age folk singer.”

An Indivisible Art Collective Presents Americana Hour

at Right Proper Shaw Brewpub

Songwriter Eli Waltz hosts a rotation of DC-area artists performing blues, folk and more

WASHINGTON, D.C. — To celebrate the D.C. area's rich yet undersung songwriting tradition, Eli Waltz will partner with An Indivisible Art Collective and Right Proper Brewing to present Eli Waltz's Americana Hour—a monthlong series of weekly concerts showcasing the DMV artists who are carrying forward the legacy of blues and folk legends like John Fahey, Skip James, and Connie B. Gay.

Waltz is a lifelong student of storytelling through song. He traveled the world while developing his voice as a performer, spending stints in China, Colombia, Israel, and Tibet. Waltz settled in Washington, D.C. after graduating from American University.

“The aim of the series is to revitalize local interest in Americana, Blues and Folk music—a tradition in the D.C. area,” says Waltz. “Fewer venues cater to this style of music today. The goal is to reintroduce this style as a quintessential District sound, and bring the city’s history of Americana music to more people–to inspire a new generation of fans.” The series, Waltz explains, will feature local blues, country and folk artists, and focus on telling stories about the many contributions of D.C. musicians across generations.

For the first performance of the series, Waltz will share the stage with Carly Harvey, “D.C.'s Queen of Blues.” Harvey, a widely acclaimed singer and educator, has performed with some of the world’s most prominent touring blues musicians, including Cory Henry, Susan Tedeschi, Ron Holloway, Annika Chambers and more.

The Americana Hour takes place every Saturday in March from 12 to 3p.m. at the Right Proper Brewing Company's Shaw location.
